winter is coming
Winter is coming! It was 3ºC out there yesterday afternoon when I took this shot on my iPhone of the view across the valley from our terrace. Brr!

Strawberry tree (Arbutus unedo) – fruits and flowers, and a couple of late-autumn bees still pollinating. Native to the Mediterranean and Western Europe including Ireland, where it’s variously known as the Irish strawberry tree, cane apple or Killarney strawberry tree, it’s not related to the common strawberry plant and the fruit are rather pasty. Apparently they make quite good jam. Anyway, it’s an evergreen that adds colour and shape to our garden.
